Research Question:
"How do elementary Montessori educators perceive the effectiveness of Montessori Materials in enhancing math fluency among students?"
Data collection for this study began after obtaining approval by the Loyola University Maryland Institutional Review Board (IRB) on Human Subjects Research. The participants for this study included a sample of seven Lower Elementary-trained Montessori teachers (either AMI or AMS) actively engaged in teaching mathematics during the data collection period from January 2024 to March 2024. Data was collected through one-time, semi-structured anonymous interviews conducted virtually via Zoom. Each interview lasted 20 to 30 minutes and aimed to gather detailed insights into the teachers' experiences with Montessori math materials, their teaching methods, and the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the materials. The interview questions, which can be found here, guided these discussions, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of how the math materials are utilized in classrooms and identifying potential areas for improvement.
